I set up LDAP against my Windows Server 2008 R2 DC, using distinguished name, password, and base ou that work in LDAPExplorer2.exe, but get the following error:

[DirectoryServicesCOMException (0x8007052e): The user name or password is incorrect. ] System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry.Bind(Boolean throwIfFail) +387793 System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry.Bind() +36 System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry.get_SchemaEntry() +33 System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement.ADStoreCtx.IsContainer(DirectoryEntry de) +48 System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement.ADStoreCtx..ctor(DirectoryEntry ctxBase, Boolean ownCtxBase, String username, String password, ContextOptions options) +116 System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement.PrincipalContext.CreateContextFromDirectoryEntry(DirectoryEntry entry) +144 System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement.PrincipalContext.DoLDAPDirectoryInit() +247

Any thoughts or recommendations as to permissions needed? Adding the user to Domain Admins did not help.

    Neil,

    I don't really know what LDAPExplorer2 is, but could you please double-check if the user has the "List Contents" permission?
