Setting Up LDAP
Hi,
I am trying to set up the LDAP configuration, but have some
questions:
Under the "Server Address" what format is accepted. IP address? or
DNS name (computername.mydomain.com)
Under the "Bind Login" what format is accepted. domain\username? or
[email blocked].
Once the settings are saved, does the user I want to add need to sign in using their fully qualified name (mydomain\username) or can they use username for the login.
Thanks

PB,
"Server Address" can really be either an IP address or a domain hostname. The latter is a bit less reliable since it requires a DNS lookup, so I recommend using an IP address.
Bind Login can include domain name and when it does it should look like
domain\username
. The gist is that this user has to be findable from the "Base Container".The actual login you enter when signing in theoretically depends on the "Base Container", but that's very much environment-specific. What I recommend you to do is to create (if you don't have one already) a separate System Administrator in an HgLab Integrated Catalog so that there's a backup plan while you're configuring an LDAP Catalog,
Hope that helps.
