Currently we use QVCS (Quma Version Control software), we really liked it, but it is outdated and don't get any support, The most interesting feature is that The file can be checked out and so that other team members aware that somebody is working on that particular file. I am not really sure if that is something possible with your Version control software. Please let me know your thoughts about it.

Mercurial just doesn't work this way. I think you'll be better off with
Subversion or Perforce.
